Possible issue upgrading router.info on some Ubuntu package installs on ZFS Filesystems
cc: @zzz
Earlier today I noticed that one of my routers had an issue where when upgrading the router.info. The reason for this was because the file at /var/lib/i2p/i2p-config/router.info
had permissions of 0400
, so the router had permission to read only. Weirdly, this did not occur on my other Ubuntu machines doing similar things, and all the /var/lib/i2p/i2p-config/router.info
's had had the correct permissions. The only potentially relevant difference between them I can discern right now is that this machine uses a ZFS pooled filesystem and the others do not.
- I2P Version: 0.9.49-0-1ubuntu1
- Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 20.04 focal
- ZFS Version: 0.8.1-1ubuntu14.3
If we see this again, the obvious solution in the short term to offer people is to:
sudo chmod 0600 /var/lib/i2p/i2p-config/router.info
I have no idea when this permission changed on my machine, but I do know how to find out when the symptom(failing due to inability to upgrade the router.info) started so I'll begin trying to figure out when that happened, which must have been in the past 9 days.
